We enjoyed a lively debate, briefly discussing the purpose of the SIG and agreed that networking, sharing good practice and ideas, keeping up to date with developments from different areas and hearing about others' experiences were top of the list. We agreed some key themes of interest to us all. These are: transition and curriculum development; models of delivery and related funding implications; workforce developments, working with employers and regulation; academic career development issues; and finally emerging research from early pilot sites. We have yet to refine how these shared interests might most usefully be taken forward by the group; early ideas include dedicating meetings to a particular theme. Some of us expressed an interest in continuing with the Working Paper suggested by Ivan, looking at different ways of delivering Foundation degrees and the implications for progression and developing new provision. If you would also be interested, please let me know ( HYPERLINK "mailto:J.Wintrup@soton.ac.uk" J.Wintrup@soton.ac.uk). We agreed to move around a little, whilst agreeing that Kings is an excellent venue. The September meeting will be held in Blackburn, provisionally on the 18th. Our theme will be 'curriculum development and transition' so I will ask for interest in informally presenting on this topic nearer the time. I do hope this summary accurately reflects our stimulating discussion and enables us to follow through some ideas for the relaunched group. We were all conscious that membership and interest is much broader than can be reflected in attendance at SIG meetings, so we are discussing with Charles Kasule ways of keeping in touch through HEA. I look forward to meeting more of you in Blackburn in September and thanks again to everyone who contributed so creatively. It was great to meet you all.
